Tiny URLs
I thought some of you might like to know how to make a long URL into a short one. It's a free service and really easy to do:

Here's another site that does the same thing: http://bit.ly
You have a wealth of information to share! Thank you!
I have seen "tinyurl" as part of a web address many, many times but never knew until know where it came from. This would have saved me a few headaches just last week when I had to put out a very long url to a group of people. Next time I'll use tinyurl.
This is the second time today that I'm using you as a resource. First your wiki, now your hint. Thank you Patricia.
That's so wonderful to hear! ![]()
I've seen a lot of people use the bit.ly site on FaceBook and Twitter. Tiny URL has been around for a long time. It's very handy!
Patricia
PS: did you know you can see all the posts one person has written by clicking on his/her name? The forum profile lists all the posts that person has made. I have found it to be the easiest way to back track on the threads I'm involved in.
Patricia,
i have had to learn about shorten urls since I started using Twitter. Now when I'm sending a link to someone in an email I will shorten it. Also using this is great if someone has to type in a url instead of being able to cut and paste it.
Thanks for the great information - the shorter url will help us all!
I have found a cool, new site! It's called gl.am and it converts url's to a shorter, gl.am version. It also bookmarks pages and stores them as thumbnails. Eventually, I expect this new site will replace Delicious.
