Last week I asked if anyone knew how to embed html attributes for scrolling marqee. Well, I found it. Below is an example:
Here is the code to add a simple scrolling text from right to left side with background color
<marquee bgcolor="#99CCFF">code to simple scrolling text</marquee>
I challenge you to try this but the text "code to simple scrolling text" with your own textmessage.
I tried it with the insert plugins/productivity/html buttonson my wiki but is did not scroll. The text appppeared but it did not scroll. did I do something wrong?
Sorry, it was the insert plugins/pbworksmagic/html buttons
It worked! It worked! This is so way cool! Thank you, Thank you,Thank you! NOt to appear to insatiable....how can I change the font and make it bigger?
ok, A little more sober now. Here is a link to my sandbox where I got it to work, when I tried it I got a poopup button that said "Allow JavaScript and other potentially unsafe code " When I clicked on it the scrolling happened but when I went to my homework for week 2 and tried to do the same thing, the "potentially dangerous" part did not come up and the scrolling didn't happen. What did I do wrong the 2nd time?

I copied the link and changed the message but the marquee will not scroll. Did you have nay problems with this?

OMG I feel like such a nerd. Thanks for the marquee
Thanks, I looked for one but couldn't find one which worked. I couldn't make this work on my summer camp page but on my own space the java box could be clicked. It is fun!

Thank you. I struggled with this until I realized I hadn't clicked on the java script box. However, when I looked at the source code in my wiki, I noticed that wiki strips the marquee tag out. I wonder why!
This camp has provided me so many ideas!

As the administrator of your site, you can choose to allow Java Script and other potentially unsafe code. However, as a writer on the Summer Camp site, you do not have that option. So you didn't do anything wrong the 2nd time...you were just in the role of a student rather than a teacher. Something to remember when asking students to add to your class wiki. There may be times that you have to embed items for them. Hope this helps.

Oh, now I see...Thanks for the reply, Angela, you and all the mentors are doing a wonderful job.

This is very cool. I, too, would like to know how to change colors, fonts, and font size. Please enlighten!!!! :)

Here is a chart with some HTML color codes (http://html-color-codes.info/). It is pretty easy to change.
- Click "edit"
- Right click on the green java script box and choose "edit this plugin."
- Change the six-digit code that comes after marquee bgcolor="#.
- Click 'preview' and then 'ok.'
NOTE: If you want to use a standard color like yellow, just write 'yellow' instead of the code.
Size and font could be slightly more difficult if you have never used HTML code. Here is one site you could look at - http://www.tnellen.com/school/basic.html#font. Someone else might have a better site or know how to explain it clearly. (You put something like: <font size = 5> before your text and </font> after your text.)
Hope this is not too confusing. I just know the basics of HTML.

Sorry if I was a little unclear. The font instructions I gave were for font size. The site I gave also tells you how to choose the actual font. It is relatively easy.
Thanks to all those who tried and made suggestions for this scrolling marque. I did get it to work on my own wiki, enabling the java, and it looks so cool!
Andrea
I cannot get it to work (like others on this list). I read about enabling the java, where would that be?
Only administrators can enable java scrip on the wiki. If you're the administrator, click insert plugin and chose 'HTML/Gadgets'. From there chose HTML/Java scrip and make sure to check the box that says "Allow JavaScript and other potentially unsafe code"
