In the camp pages, we're not allowed to use the HTML/Java plugin (I think there was something in a comment about why exactly, but I can't recall). When you are on the edit page, click the "Source" button. This will show you the HTML code. There you can past in your embed code where you want the video to appear. Click "Source" again to get back to the regular view. Click Save to see the video on the page (you won't see it on the edit page).
HTH!

When I had copied the embed code, I used the "Source" button -
and pasted in the "embed code" in the raw HTML. When I saved it, the Jing was there. Maybe that would work for you.
Dawn,
Thanks! This worked perfectly. I'm also finding that Firefox is my preferred browser of choice when working with PBworks rather than Safari.
I'm wondering if other Mac users are having the same experience?

More on embeded code from JING - Screencast.com
Yes i just tried to embed this code from Screencast.com (A JING-file exported) to my other WIKI in program Wikispaces - and its working - without any problems here![]()
I have tried another solution (Thanks to Dawn Moores on teh PDWorks summerCamp): saving the swf-file direct from JING - to my PC - uploading this to PDWorks - but I got cropping of the original page displaying this in PDWORKS - so this is not a option to use, perhaps?
So, sorry - PDWorks here is a bug - and something to do for your tech people. Its reported by my mentor!

Thanks - your have THE SOLUTION - Joan Vinal Cox!
A little odd to me that this is the way to get "around the corner" NOT using the HTML-tool
when embeding HTML from Screencast.com

In yesterday's webinar Kristine explained that if you embed your video in such a way it will stay up only for a couple of weeks as se system will consider it a possible hazard and will remove it. So it is only a half-way solution.
Thanks so much. I did get the video on the page. Now I know one more thing than I did :) (I feel like there are SOOOO many things in the category of what I don't know about wikis.)
... If you need to convert files, try zamzar.com - I have used it to convert Real player files and other audio files to MP3 - a file extension recognized by my district...

This looks like a great resource! Thanks.
I would like to try Jing to see if it would be an alternative to using Camtasia. I am using an older laptop computer that doesn't have the processing power to run Camtasia (even though my college has several licenses for it) so I am thinking that the lack of some of the video editing features that Camtasia has might make Jing leaner and able to run on an older machine. If that is the case, I will be able to develop materials for my online class this summer and won't have to wait until this fall when I am back in my office.
Thanks for this advice. Bizarrely, I was able to use the HTML/Java plugin for my first video (animoto), but I couldn't upload the Jing video that way. So, I used the source advice, and it worked. I'm going to have to view the archive of this week's talk to see why it will disappear like some have said.
Niels,
Camper Carol Galbo helped me out with this problem so I can help you too. Everything you've done so far is fine. Embedding the code into your wiki using the HTML widget is fine. The trouble is with the embed code.
Try this: examine the code carefully looking for the string of code that begins and ends with: <embed> .
Delete everything but that string, all text that precedes and all text that follows the embed string.
Magic should happen. Then become the third or fourth camper to let Jing know you had trouble with this function so they'll fix it.

I have only used Jing for screencasting. Saw in used for video at NECC. I will be trying it out and might need to refer to the comments here if I run into problems. Thank you.
How to get the Jing in the HTML embed area, from another camper's page (Diane W), who found this information on another camper forum:
Update Sat.morning - July 4 - I just read a message written by camper, David Hodges, in the campers chat that gave credit to another camper, Carol Galbo, for the answer to embedding a Jing video. (erase everything in the embed script you get from the Jing site except from the first actual word "embed" through the last word "embed". Worked first time. I'm still playing with the size, but this is so much better than just a link. Thanks David and Carol.
I am so wanting to try out Jing. There's a few people around with Camtasia licenses, but free software is always better than one you pay for if it will do the job.
One thing I'm really interested in using it for is recording equations using a tablet or a tablet PC. It would be really cool if these equations could actually be converted to text (like handwriting recognition software). Any suggestions on software tools that will do this?

Another "hats off" to David and Carole! Able to embed the ScreenCast image created with Jing. Now the sizing needs work, but we always need another challenge, right?!!?
