I have been using PBWiki (works) for over a year and having a great time. I recently discontinued my library website and replaced it with my interactive wiki, and it's been very successful: http://studygrounds.pbwork.com.
The kids love seeing their own work, pictures and video on the site. It has become a central place that houses information and resources for the whole building. It took a little while to catch on, but now I am even getting access requests from parents. That's really a good feeling.
Thanks for sharing this, Christina! I moved all the resource links from my library website to a wiki a year or two ago, but haven't quite found the energy to move everything else. I needed this inspiration-- what a nice job! I had fun watching the videos on your "Very Cool Clips" page. Are using a free wiki, or did you upgrade?
(By the way, the link you posted on the forum is missing the "s" on pbworks, so it's not connecting-- so go to http://studygrounds.pbworks.com/ instead, campers!)
Hi, Christina and Shayne!
I enjoyed your visuals and the feeling of being right there right now on your site, Christina.
Did you find bubbleshare easy to use? I had never heard of it before PBSummer Camp.
Where can I read more about using Bubbleshare? I know where to sign up, but I didn't see any more information on the sign-up page. Thanks. Julie Dostal
Wow, Christina, I LOVE your library wiki. I've been playing around with the idea of setting one up, and you have just inspired me to just do it ... wonderful ideas, and very welcoming and creative! No wonder it's caught on!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for letting me know about the missing "s", Shayne, and for the re-direct. I have loved having a wiki instead of my website. The best part of having a wiki has been having the kids involved. I love it when they give me feedback and their ideas are usually great! I have found that they are using the citation help section, and also the Plagiarism checker a lot more than when I had my other website. I am hoping to add more audio pieces to the site next year, with more book reviews. The VoiceThread book review was a great inspiration.
Julie, the best way to find out about Bubbleshare is just to get on the site and start playing around. It is fairly intuitive, but does have some quirkiness. It has a lot of really cool features, but it can also be a little glitchy. Sometimes the photos don't show up on my wiki the way they do when I set them up on the Bubbleshare site. When you go to their site, there are a lot of fun options as to how to format the pictures, such as a theater, a beach scene, a scrapbook and more, but sometimes when I embed this format, the photo sizes are not compatible with the formatting. I try to work around it when possible.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Shayne, in answer to your question about the free or upgraded wiki: Up until now I have only used the free wiki. I've been happy with how much is available just for free. My school district is not well-funded and we don't get much for technology, so I am all about getting what's out there for free. I have just proposed to my school district the idea of signing up for the Campus Account and it looks like we might go in that direction. Even if they don't, I'll be upgrading for the future, since my wiki is growing to the point that I will probably need more storage, and I'll also need the ability to add more users. I love PBWorks!

Hi Christina. Wow! What an amazing wiki you have. I am so inspired by what you have done. I am very new to this and am trying every tool we have learned about this week. I love how you used Bubble Share for summer reading. I am going to play around with that immediately. Do you download your book covers from a specific site?
Also, I love your library tour using Voice Thread. Another idea I will try.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Christina,
I want to share my wiki with teachers and students. I especially want to promote new books. Booktrailers like yours seem the way to go. I am going to "play" with Bubbleshare this week to see what it will do. I also like Animoto for promoting books as well.
Hi Christina -- I like the way you're using Creative Commons licensing. Do you have a suggestion for a quick tutorial?
Does anyone else? Check out my wiki-under-construction: Foxborough High School Learning Commons.
Thanks for the collegial support!
Kathleen
Hi Kathleen,
I have used the creative commons site videos and tutorials. I'll be checking your site!
Chris
Christina,
This is a great library wiki. I am responsible for coordinating the media specialists consortia meetings for 7 school districts and wanted to use a wiki (for the first time) to show them how to create their own spaces.
May I add a link to your wiki in the wiki samples page that I am going to create? I really think it would inspire many of these hard-working professionals!
Nicely done!
Very nicely done. I have added your wiki to my list of "things to read" for the rest of summer vacation. Please add me as a Reader to your wiki!
Christina,
Great job with your library wiki!! Our district moved to a new web service and I decided to move my extensive library website to a library wiki. You have given me lots of good ideas. Thanks!
Christina,
Great library wiki. Thanks for inspiring me to want to do a wiki. You have great ideas. I know your students love it. Thanks.
Sure! I am flattered. I love working on my wiki and it has become a real central place for everyone in our building to go for resources. Keep in touch.
