I found this great site - http://play.typeracer.com/ - that let's you race against other typists.

It's a fun way to test your typing skills and challenge your classmates.

Try it!

What do you do when a site like typeracer is blocked on your school site as a game?

Dallas CTE,

I would contact your network administrator by email and include the link to TypeRacer and your reason for wanted it unblocked. If you explain it's educational and give them the link to check it out for themselves, they should have no problem adding it as a trusted site.

Good Luck.

Hi Kristine,
Thanks for sharing the site. I did not have a typing site that I am really fond of. This one sounds great. My fourth graders love anything that involves competition. I'll check it out. Again thank you.

Thanks Kristine....

We have seen that competition between our students in Middle School can drive online assessments (thru our use of StudyIsland); our challenge has been that the competition encourages students to perform at speeds that do not facilitate retention of learning. Our students may be able to do it fast, but don't ask them to repeat the process with any degree of accuracy.

Thanks, I have so many students that need to learn to type!  We sometimes give wings to those without feathers.

Some of my adult students need this!  They may know how to use technology, but their typing skills are horrible.  They need to get better before they get into their academic classes.
