Fabulous!  Videos are a much better way of communicating directions with students...   : )

Intermediate/Advanced Users:  If you'd like to "make your own videos" to show students how to use and navigate the wiki they will be working with, take a look at Jing.  It is a free download.  With Jing you can record your screen movements and voice and embed the video in your wiki.  Students can refer back to this "how to" after they leave your classroom.
Here's a sample showing teachers and students how to screen capture and edit their Wordle. This content may be more appropriate as we move along further in camp.

All the resources here are fablulous!  I will need to experiment with Jing and Wordle.  I might use it to review class material or review project criteria with students.

Thank you, Christine

I have used wordle a lot, and I love it. Sometimes I just represent the results of a brainstorming activity with it. I let everybody write down relates words on a discussion topic on a piece of paper ( it just takes one minute), then type them into wordle and proceed with different activities basd on it.

Thank you for the video clips. I am such a visual learner. They will be very helpful.

I like the process using jing.  I know I always think I have the right idea in my head when I'm watching a demonstration, but later I find that I've forgotten a step or two.  It's so much harder for the students at my school because most of them don't use computers in an educational way usually.  To be able to go back and watch how to do something on their own time would be very beneficial for them.  Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for providing the link. I appreciated seeing links to other videos. I, initially, was unable to locate videos providing instruction on using videos. But, when I clicked the '-> View all topics' link, I was able to find information concerning embedding and uploading videos under the 'Edit' category.

I'm sure I will an answer to the following question on this website, but in the event you (or anyone else) knows offhand can you provide me with any tips on what to record video with (products) or what file type is best?

Here's a really basic question.  I made a video slide show using animoto to upload to my page.  I cannot seem to upload it because it is not an avi, flv, mpeg, mov, wmv, mpg, or mp4.  It is an html.  How do I upload animoto to my pbworks page? Or how should I convert the video file?

Hi Jo,
You're going to let your Animoto video stay right there on the Animoto server.  One of your options for "sharing" is to embed your video.  Open your video in Animoto and then click on the link to "Open Toolbar" at top right.  Click on the Embed option.  A window will open showing the video size choices and the code.  You are going to copy all that code, open your wiki for editing, choose the "Source" button and paste the code right where you want the movie to go.
Tip - to be sure I know where I'm putting my video, I type the word "movie" on my wiki where I want it to go.  Then, when I open the wiki Source, I look for the word "movie."  I highlight it and then paste my code to replace it.

Hi, I like to attach the youtube videos and power point made in slideshow.com, I attractions. The videos serve as an awareness of work, mostly documentaries. The work as slideshows of photographs of what was done.
Taking advantage, I believe that compliance with all the tasks of the first week, but my link has not been selected with the color green. If I'm being hasty, I apologize that I am a little anxious, because we know very bad the English!

MovieMaker has managed to engage some of my unengageable special ed students.  Whoo Hoo.

Here is video 1 of my MovieMaker tutorial for the kids.  We saved PowerPoint slides as jpegs and uploaded them into Movie Maker.  http://www.screencast.com/t/ip4Jqbq7m

I recorded the video using Jing.

Wordle can also be used at the beginning of a lesson as an anticipatory guide.  Give them the wordle and ask them to ??? define or explain the words/concepts that are familiar to them.

Thanks sooo much.  Your training resources have been invaluable to me as I helped interested teachers. I have been able to use your resources to train them at workshops/inservices that I have been asked to give.
Thanks to you all for your hardwork and dedication.

I'm literally taking notes on this thread! So many options to try out and play around with. Jing and/or Wordle sound like they could be really helpful. I'm putting together a brief presentation about the summer reading assignments for my AP students.

I have seen presentations on this before, but they never made much sense ( even though 8 year olds can do it on TV!).  This presentation was so clear and very helpful.  Thank you for breaking it down so well.
